REAGAN BRATS: The Generation Spoiled With Greatness

We are REAGAN BRATS™ .

Each generation goes further than the generation preceding it because it stands on the shoulders of that generation. You will have opportunities beyond anything we've ever known.

The Great Restoration is upon us.

For years we were spoiled with greatness.

Now is the time to play our role.  Now is the time to reestablish conservatism.

Our Founding Fathers preserved our rights to Life, Liberty, and to pursue Happiness.  Ronald Reagan instilled the values necessary to preserve those rights and the greatness of America.

Today many neglect those values and these rights are threatened.  Our government deprives us of Liberty through excess.  Now is the time to continue what Ronald Reagan knew to be right, what the Founding Fathers believed in.  We must renew our great Republic, embolden Liberty, and limit government.

Throughout history the rights of humanity are trampled by dictator and democratically elected legislature alike.  Before Reagan our liberty was attacked through high taxes.  Reagan defended liberty against the economic attack by fighting for lower taxes.  Now our liberty is attacked through a new form of enslavement, economic enslavement.  While we enjoy what shall soon be considered low taxes, our government borrows at catastrophic rates.  Even worse, our government promises more social spending at all levels:  welfare for the poor, welfare for the middle class, welfare for the corporations, and welfare for the world.  Entire new entitlement systems are promised to gain favor.  What were once merely rights to pursue are now entitlements owed by the government.  These “entitlements” come at a tremendous cost.

Unfortunately, our government is broke.  The entitlements people receive today must be paid by our future generations.  Do not ask who will pay for the new entitlements promised.  I repeat, “Our government is broke.”  Even before our government paid out a bonus trillion dollars to bail-out colossal failures, our government racked up nearly forty-thousand dollars of debt for every man, woman and child.  Could the average family of four get by with $160,000 of debt?  Imagine the sacrifice a family must make with $160,000 of credit card debt.  You would indeed be enslaved to your debt.  We are becoming further enslaved to government with each passing day.  Our Liberty is lost to financial indebtedness.

As many in our great Republic cast their votes for change, they were unaware of the change that awaits them.  A senator went to Washington claiming he wanted to “fix” a broken system.  After two years that senator has solved nothing, but now promises to turn over more of our free markets to a broken system he never tried to fix.  As those in government fail us more, we granted them more power.

Government programs fail us.  We allow our government to spend billions on these programs, and these programs fail.  Because these programs fail, we allowed our government to spend billions more.  We allowed government take vast control of our housing markets through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  When they failed and left our free markets on the brink of failure, our legislature granted $850 billion to the same system that failed.  The fact is undeniable:  Government cannot do anything better than American individuals, the free market.  If you put a bandage on a wound, it should help it heal.  It should not necessitate a larger bandage.  If government programs solved problems, they would fade away because they worked.

The challenges ahead are great, but not impossible.  Mr. Reagan once called out for the great leaders of America to rise up and assume roles throughout society.  Again our nation yearns for leadership.  As Reagan said before, the American people deserve better from those whom we entrust our highest offices.  As Ronald Reagan warned we cannot allow our nation to wander aimlessly from one crisis to the next.

The Greatest Generation taught us that the title "Greatest Generation" could belong to us, because humanity has no limitation.  Today we must begin to take up the title The Greatest Generation.
